1. Storage
Tungsten and molybdenum products are easy to oxidize and change color, so they must be stored in an environment with a humidity below 60%, a temperature below 28°C, and isolated from other chemicals.
The oxides of tungsten and molybdenum products are soluble in water and are acidic, please pay attention!
2. Pollution embrittlement
(1) At high temperature (close to the melting point of the metal), it will react with other metals (iron and its alloys, nickel and its alloys, etc.), sometimes causing embrittlement of the material. When performing heat treatment of tungsten and molybdenum products, attention must be paid!
Heat treatment should be performed in vacuum (below 10-3Pa), reducing (H2) or inert gas (N2, Ar, etc.) atmosphere.
(2) Tungsten and molybdenum products will become embrittled when they react with carbon, so do not touch them when heat treatment is performed at a temperature above 800°C. But molybdenum products below 1500 ℃, the degree of embrittlement caused by carbonization is very small.
3. Machining
(1) Bending, punching, shearing, cutting, etc. of tungsten-molybdenum plate products are prone to cracks when processed at room temperature, and must be heated. At the same time, due to improper processing, sometimes delamination occurs, so heating processing is recommended.
(2) However, the molybdenum plate will become brittle when heated above 1000°C, which will cause difficulty in processing, so attention must be paid.
(3) When mechanically grinding tungsten and molybdenum products, it is necessary to select a grinding method suitable for various occasions.
4. Oxide removal method
(1) Tungsten and molybdenum products are easy to oxidize. When heavy oxides need to be removed, please entrust our company or treat with strong acid (hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.), please pay attention when operating.
(2) For mild oxides, use a cleaning agent with abrasives, wipe with a soft cloth or sponge, and then rinse with warm water.
(3) Please note that the metallic luster will be lost after washing.
5. Precautions for use
(1) The tungsten-molybdenum sheet is as sharp as a knife, and the burrs on the corners and end faces may cut hands. When using the product, please wear protective equipment.
(2) The density of tungsten is about 2.5 times that of iron, and the density of molybdenum is about 1.3 times that of iron. The actual weight is much heavier than the appearance, so manual handling may hurt people. It is recommended to perform manual operation when the weight is below 20KG.
6. Precautions for handling
The tungsten and molybdenum products of molybdenum plate manufacturers are brittle metals, which are prone to cracking and delamination; therefore, when transporting, be careful not to apply shock and vibration, such as dropping. Also, when packing, please fill with shock-absorbing material.
